Ana Cristina is a lawyer from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, specializing in economic competition. For over twelve years, she worked at the heart of the authority's decision-making: first as a rapporteur in the Plenary of the then Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica (COFECE), and later as legal advisor (Deputy Director General) in the Investigating Authority of that agency. She is therefore familiar with both sides of the procedure—the investigative and the adjudicative—and uses this understanding to support and advise companies and individuals facing investigations, those charged, or parties involved in other types of proceedings before the authority.
She also has relevant experience in the energy sector, having been Coordinator of Advisors to the Subsecretaría de Electricidad of the Secretaría de Energía, advising on electrical planning and regulation tasks, as well as in the now-defunct Comisión Federal de Mejora Regulatoria (COFEMER), where she issued regulatory drafts for the energy, infrastructure and environment sectors.
